The T’ai Chi Chih discipline is a series of gentle movements that stimulate, circulate, and balance internal energy, called Chi (pronounced “chee”)or qi. Originated in 1974 by Justin F. Stone, this non-martial and non-impact moving meditation is based on ancient Chinese principles of QiGong (energy work). The benefits of regular practice include the following:
Increases balance, energy, and coordination
Helps normalize blood pressure and weight
Improves general health and well-being
Strengthens and balances the immune system
Enhances mental focus and creativity
Persons of any age or physical ability can learn T’ai Chi Chih and the movements may be adapted to accommodate any physical limitations. No special clothing, space, nor equipment are needed. Only accredited practitioners can teach T’ai Chi Chih.
